This event was held to reach out to those that are socially isolated living in the Ingram Crescent area to get to know those at Muriel House and link in with the Time to Talk Befriending service. Both local tenants and some pupils from Blatchington Mill School baked and served cakes to welcome guests as they arrived.
Manager of Muriel House, Nina, said “The room was buzzing with chat and laughter. People from the community [were] mixing and chatting to tenants and staff. All those from the community were made to feel so welcome by everyone.”
“Mission accomplished!! Neighbours got to know each other for the first time and swapped telephone numbers! 8 people said they would love to link in with the activities at Muriel House. 2 people have opened about their feelings of loneliness and would like a volunteer befriender. And last but not least 6 people will be attending our monthly community Church Service at Muriel House! Everyone left smiling and full of cake!”–Emily, from Time to Talk Befriending
“I enjoyed this more than I ever expected I would.”
“Thank you for such a special day!”
Special thanks to Time to Talk Befriending, Home IN Magazine and Brighton and Hove City Council for sharing their success and photos!
